AAVP Privacy Policy
Overview:
Thank you for taking the time to review our Privacy Policy. At times, AAVP will collect certain personal information from our members and visitors to our website. This Privacy Policy explains what types of information we will collect and how that information is used.
Specifics:
For each visitor to our Web site, our Web server automatically recognizes only the visitor's connecting Internet Protocol (IP) address and technical information such as browser type and operating system, but not the E-mail address or any other personal information.
AAVP collects only the IP address, but not the E-mail address or other personal information of visitors to the AAVP Web site. We do collect the E-mail addresses of those who join AAVP on the site or who communicate with us via E-mail and aggregate information on what pages consumers access or visit. The information we collect is used to improve the content of the AAVP Web site.
With respect to cookies: AAVP uses cookies* only to maintain a record of which site visitor are authorized to access our "members only" section of this Web site. Many other sites use cookies in a similar manner.
If you do not want to receive E-mail from us in the future, please let us know by sending an E-mail to Doug.Carithers@merial.com.
If you supply us with your mailing address online you will only receive the information for which you provided your address and related future information.
Members who supply us with their telephone numbers online may receive telephone contact from us with information relevant to their AAVP membership.
None of your contact information will be transferred or shared with unrelated third-parties.
With respect to ad servers: AAVP does not employ, partner with or otherwise have relationships with any ad server companies.
From time to time, we may use member information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to our Web site to notify you of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses. If you are concerned about how your information is used, feel free to check back at the AAVP Web site periodically.
Upon request, AAVP provides our members and site visitors with access to a description of information that we maintain about them.
With respect to security: AAVP always uses industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring and receiving member or site visitor data exchanged with the AAVP site. When we transfer and receive certain types of sensitive information such as financial information, we redirect visitors to a secure server using Verisign’s Secured Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to transmit information to processing agents. They receive the information needed to verify and authorize your credit card or other payment information.
* A cookie is a data file that resides on your computer's hard disk. The cookie is placed there by a remote Web server that you have visited using a browser like Internet Explorer or Mozilla. It is used to uniquely identify you during Web interactions with a Web site and contains data parameters that allow the remote Web server to segregate your requests from other site visitors.
